Finished drawing of Jon Hopkins, producer of my favourite album of 2013, ‘Immunity’. I chose to do the portrait in a 12”x12” format as a personal alternative to the sleeve design used for the record (although I’m pretty partial to the existing image too).

Probably the most texturally complex piece I’ve worked on to date, plenty of detail and layering to get stuck into.

This morning I also launched my brand spanking new website, which has kept me elbow deep in unfathomable CSS code for the past week or so. So take a look and help me break it in.

Its almost exactly a year since I started work on a Ray-Ban brief for Marcel, and last month the end product finally popped up in the Covent Garden store.

The original brief went through a few iterations and alterations, beginning life as a completely different concept for a different model altogether, but I’m pretty pleased with the end result.

The job ended up entailing a fair amount of technical drawing, something that I hadn’t done a lot of but really enjoyed getting to grips with, and forced me to restrain the photo-realistic approach I would usually take to this sorta stuff. I’ve included a couple of examples of my original drawings (for a different model entirely), and the first mockup of the poster I did as a super-tight rendering. The final even managed to involve my childlike chicken-scrawl handwriting…

I’ve been working on illustrations for a kids book by Rob Sprackling since much earlier this year, and I’m chuffed to announce that its just been published!

Quick stolen synopsis: ‘Bully boy Ben is cruel to animals and humans alike - until one day, he gets run over by a 94 bus and is reincarnated as a bug. Now the boot is on the other foot, and that foot wants to squash Ben flat!  Ben learns that if he wants to work his way back up the food chain he better start by being nice!   Born Again Ben is a dark, comedic morality tale for our times.’

I really enjoyed working in a different way for this project, trying to tell smaller stories within each image. I think there’s 15 or so interior b&w illustrations, so I’ve just selected a few.

Its on sale from Amazon here, and I will have a limited number of copies on sale from my site shortly.

Illustration of Michael Tuchner’s 1971 film ‘Villain’ for Little White Lies 50th issue special. I had a look at a printed copy last week (have yet to go and pick up my own) and its a fantastic collection of beautiful images, an almost ridiculous number of illustrators involved. Looking forward to getting hold of it properly and reading the accompanying text.
Check out the official site for more info on events surrounding the launch http://www.project-fifty.com
